Required Training

To register for DCM-related training – both classroom sessions and online ecourses – you will need to join the appropriate ATLAS Training Groups. Step-by-step instructions are below:

Accessing the MIT Learning Center requires an MIT Kerberos ID.

For Whitehead employees a sponsored account is required: PI’s must complete the sponsored guest request form here: https://mv-ezproxy-com.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/ .

Employees will receive an email with a link to MIT's account registration application.

STEP 1: Join Training Group(s)

  1. Enter the MIT Learning Center site by visiting atlas.mit.edu and clicking on “Learning Center” on the left.
  2. Click on the “My Profile” tab on the top.
  3. Click on “Join a Group” button (or “Join Another Group” if you are already affiliated with a Training Group.)
  4. Under “Division of Comparative Medicine,” join the appropriate group, based on the animal facility in which you will be working and species with which you will be working. (You will be able to join more than one group.)
  5. A description and a list of requirements will load.
  6. Confirm that you wish to join the group by clicking the “Join Group” button.
  7. Repeat to join further groups if necessary. (Class requirements will NOT duplicate in your training needs.)

Please note there may be additional required training based on the activities you may be performing such as surgery, food or water regulation, access to containment areas, and more. This additional required training may be completed after CAC Certification but must be completed prior to performing the corresponding activities. Join the appropriate group for your work under the “Additional Required Training” banner.

STEP 2: Register for Training

Click on the “My Training Needs” tab on the top. Your new training requirements will be listed. Note that these can be sorted by “completed “not yet completed,” as well as by “required” and “recommended.”

Click on individual courses to register for classroom trainings. Register by clicking the “Book Session” button. If all of the listed sessions are full, you should pre-book the course to be emailed when sessions are added. If your schedule absolutely prevents you from attending normally scheduled classes, or if no sessions are listed, email the instructor directly.

If you have any questions, please contact dcmtraining@mit.edu.
